President Elizabeth Rastelli and Jerome Townsend attended the Grand Opening of the OCC Veteran and Military Resource Center and the POW-MIA Chair Tribute on February 27.
Ryan Luurtsema, US Army Veteran and the Coordinator of Military and Veteran Services presented our club with a plaque in appreciation of our contribution towards the purchase of the chair. The POW-MIA chair serves as a reminder that we will never forget those servicemen and women who served but never returned home. Ryan was also presented with an award from Major Mo Hill and a Congressional Certificate of Recognition from Congressman Andy Kim presented by Lynette Whitman.
The Center was established to assist veterans and their family members in transitioning from military to civilian life by providing educational, social, recreational, mentoring, tutoring, employment and counseling services. Central Ocean Rotary Club is proud to support the center important mission. Special thanks to Ben Giovine who couldn’t attend, but was instrumental in bringing this cause to the club.
